Our attorneys represent employers during every stage of an employment-related charge or claim brought by employees.  We represent clients before administrative agencies such as the IDHR, EEOC and NLRB.  We also defend clients in state and federal courts against claims involving sexual harassment, retaliatory and wrongful discharge, and race, age, gender, pregnancy, and disability discrimination.

Defending Charges and Lawsuits Filed Against Clients

Our attorneys represent clients during every stage of a charge or claim brought by employees.  Many employment-related charges must first be filed with state or federal agencies such as the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Illinois Department of Employment Security, the Illinois Department of Labor, the United States Department of Labor, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).  Our attorneys have successfully defended clients in all aspects of charges and claims filed before these various administrative agencies.

Quinn Johnston also vigorously defends its clients in state and federal courts.  Our attorneys have successfully defended employers against employee claims involving an array of legal employment issues, including sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge, wrongful discharge, and race, age, gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, national origin, religious, and disability discrimination. We work closely with our clients to develop cost-efficient litigation strategies and reasonable settlement solutions.  We have experience resolving cases using a variety of methods that best fits the client’s preferences and needs, including settlement negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and trial litigation.

Representative Cases and Clients

  • Represented a Peoria-based client accused of wrongful termination and racial discrimination against a former employee.  After a four-day trial before the Illinois Human Rights Commission, administrative law judge ruled in client’s favor, finding that the reason for termination was legitimate and nondiscriminatory.
  • Defended a major tax services company in lawsuit filed by former worker who alleged the company breached her employment agreement, terminated her in violation of public policy and denied her bonuses, commissions and overtime when it relieved her in 2002.  Client won summary judgment in Pennsylvania state court that was affirmed on appeal.
  • Successfully defended before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission a Peoria-based client accused retaliatory discharge after the client terminated the employee shortly after he complained about harassment.
  • Successfully defended before the Illinois Human Rights Commission a Peoria-based client against disability discrimination claims after the client chose not to hire an employee following a post-offer medical examination.
